Your tasks

As a lock keeper, you have both a responsible and fun role where you ensure that both safety and service are at the highest level. You will be stationed at one of our lines of locks or bridges and be responsible for operating them. In dialogue with your colleagues, you will ensure that boat traffic flows smoothly and that the canal has the right water level. You will be an ambassador for Göta Canal and make a significant impact on each guest's experience. Every day is unique and full of opportunities to contribute to a magical atmosphere for both visitors and colleagues!

Seasonal employment

The position is a seasonal employment during the period 16/6-12/8. The employment period lasts between 6 and 9 weeks, and you need to be available for work throughout the entire period. There is also the possibility to apply for extended employment during Göta Canal's off-season, from 13 Aug-27 Sept, depending on wishes and needs. If you are interested in working during the off-season, please mention this in your application. To be eligible for the position, you must be at least 18 years old before the employment starts.

THIS IS WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, who is communicative and enjoys meeting new people. You speak Swedish and English fluently, and preferably also have knowledge of German – that is an advantage! It is a requirement that you are a good swimmer, and if you have experience or interest in boating, it is a big plus. If you have worked in service before and have a B driver's license and access to your own car, it is also meritorious for being able to easily and smoothly get to and from work.

For us, it is important that you have a genuine joy in helping people and creating a memorable experience for our visitors. We believe that you have a personal commitment and enjoy taking responsibility when needed. You thrive in collaboration with others but can also structure your own work and take command when the situation requires it.
